Established in 1995, Department of Anthropology at Shahjalal University of Science, Sylhet, Bangladesh has welcomed its 21st intake now and produced about 1000 graduates through 15 batches of students, who are making important contributions in the field of anthropology and beyond both locally and internationally. The Department hosted a good number world renowned anthropologist over the years and initiated several research activities. The Department publishes a bi-yearly reputed journal named ‘Anthropologist’. The library and information center located in the Department cater a good number books and journals. The Department also aspires to host an ethnographic museum and physical anthropology lab in near future. The students and faculty members of the Department use to volunteer in many social and cultural activities both locally and nationally.
